The front is so much easier!

Just a quick update today on the Waltham. I'm thrilled to tell you that the front is ten thousand times easier than the back because I:
  • Know what I'm doing now
  • Have memorized the pattern completely - don't need the charts at all
  • Am knitting half the size of the back (obviously!)
  • Don't have to mirror the cables - and make four million mistakes
  • Am not ripping out every third stitch like I did on the back

Besides the waist shaping mods, I added five stitches to the beginning of every front opening row to give the first cable a little more room. I'm not crazy about how the placket is literally right up against the first cable in the model garment. Fortunately, this is an easy fix. Now the area to the right side of the cable will match the area to the left. My anal retentive self breathes a huge sigh of relief. :-)

  1. I have to chuckle! I just started my right front and didn't like the little cable right against the front ribbing either. So I modified it by adding the stitches to make the K2 ribbing against the front placket.
And yes, it is much easier! Of course I haven't gotten to those pesky decreases for the neck yet.

  2. Great minds think alike, Pat! We usually see things eye to eye. Hoping to see you on Saturday at Kathy's Kreations - and your Waltham, too!

  3. Julie, it's gorgeous, I'm so impressed with your adaptations on fit and styling, can't wait to see it finished. Will you knit one for me next lol? xoxoxo
